I'm a writer, musician, cyclist, and law professor, in that order. My most widely-read publication is my book about the previously unsung women who built Gibson's guitars during WWII: www.amazon.com/Kalamazoo-Gals-Extraordinary-Gibsons-Guitars/dp/0983082782/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1361227589&sr=1-1&keywords=kalamazoo+gals

A privilege. I played at the very venue where Buddy Holly played his last gig precisely 65 years earlier, on February 3, 1959. Played on my 1943 Gibson Southerner Jumbo that a young US soldier took to the WWII European front.

An early guitar that Ken built in 1977. An absolute masterpiece.

A surprise, unannounced appearance! Jimmy Page inducted and paid tribute to Link Wray by playing a note-perfect rendition of "Rumble"!

I stole the basics of this tune years ago from Stefan Grossman. He took the melody from Willie "the Ragtime Barber Moore," a barber, obviously, but also an astonishingly talented guitar player. The folk music paradigm theft endures. :)

Greetings from England. Nice playing. You are a very lucky guy owning these historic guitars. I shudder to think what that complete set is worth
Thank you!
This is the most beautiful of JT;s most wonderful pieces, for sure!
Thank you, my friend!
great john!!!
Thank you!
Thanks, John, Beautiful.
Thank you, my friend. But, well, it's impossible to play a non-beautiful note on one of your guitars.
What a sound! Is it yours,John?
Sadly, it's not mine. Ken loaned it to me a couple of months ago.
Good to see ya John.
Very nice, and what a nice guitar, too!
Very well done John.
Bravo... Lovely tribute
Thank you, my friend.
Beautiful my friend
Thank you, my friend.
Thank you John for playing that, it brought tears to my eyes.
Thank you.
I enjoyed that song immensely! A deep and heartfelt tribute ❤

John Thomas nails the spirit of Buddy Holly in all its color and variations!
Thank you, my friend!
I love Gibson l-1
How much would these sell for now compared to back then?
About 100 times more expensive today.
Great arrangement and a great job too!
Thank you!
Nice work, John!
Thank you, Jason!
Buddy, Ritchie, and Bopper actually played the night before on 2-2-1959. They died on the 3rd.
Yeah. I know, of course.
Beautiful than you for sharing this :)
Thank you, my friend!
❤
Thank you!
Nice arrangement!
Thank you!
Wow that sounds nice.. 1st one.. even better than the modern L2
Bravo! Happy birthday Irene, this makes me smile, just like picking up one of my two banner LG-2s and taking a musical journey! Reading about your history at Gibson guitars in the Kalamazoo Gals book was a real treat.
Thank you!
God Bless , I hope you recover. Play to Jesus Christ, I always say i. The name of Jesus Chrost of Nazarth and then pray as I belive the bible says to do. It doesnt fail. Anyway, hope you arent an atheist. Take care
Did you work.for Gibson?
No, I have never worked for Gibson. In 2013, though, Gibson did issue a limited run of replicas of my personal collections of WWII-era Gibson acoustics.
I stumbled on your channel, John, after watching a David Grisman YT. Well, heck! Despite what you've been through you look like a guy that's ready for 2024. You inspire me, sir! Wishing you Love and Light in the coming year. I'll think of you during my morning meditations and send whatever mojo I can muster your way. 🙏🏼❤
Thank you!
Love you, John!
Love ya, man!
Fight on, John! Much love and support...
Thank you!
Happy New Year John. Looking forward to seeing you even more in 2024.
Thank you, Darrell. Yes, I'm also looking forward to seeing you more often.
Sage advice for all of us! Happy 2024!
Happy New Year, Kim!
Happy New Year my friend. You are a man of STEEL!
Good luck my friend
Thank you!~
Wonderful performance John, Thanks for the story,I know Jeff took a liking and appreciation to a few great acoustic guitar players, very nice indeed!
Thank you for the kind words!
Grace notes and chirrups!
Is that a flat top or arched ? I seen a flat top in a movie called llewyn? Hey nice playing,I like that sound of the guitar too it’s just right “there” 😊
Thanks! It's a flattop. Roughly the same vintage as the flattop Robert Johnson held in the famous photo and the guitar in the film, Inside Llewyn Davis.
Love seeing and hearing this guitar John! Thanks for sharing. It really sings and your playing let's that shine through. Kudos.
Thanks, Geoff! Just doing my best to showcase the guitar's amazing range.
Wow, thanks for sharing. Didn’t know he made acoustic guitars.
Yes. Only acoustic guitars these days.
Elixers???!!!??
Of course! For 2 reasons: 1) I'm lazy and 2) I hand my guitars to hundreds of folks. The Elixirs stand up to the most gruesome of skin oils.
Ha ha, I wish I'd had you as a prof in law school!
Is that the guitar you made?
Indeed, it is the guitar I made.
